ADULT BALLET
Added to the barre:
Rond de Jambe (a terre): tendu fwd, circle the leg to the side, to the back, and close to first; can be done reversing the direction.
Combination: Rond de jambe fwd, side, bk, close, repeating 3 times, demi-plie. Reverse direction going back, side, front, close first, repeating 3 times, demi-plie.
Petite Battements: Exercise is done facing the barre. Prepare by lifting the working foot to coup de pied position: pointed slightly at front of ankle with slight pull back of toes. Move the foot (quickly) to the back of the ankle and then return to front. Repeat 8 times. Repeat with left foot.
Grand Battements: (Big Beat or Kick). Brush the foot through tendu to lifted extension as high as is comfortable. Combination is grand battements 4 times en croix (4 front, 4 side, 4 back, 4 side).
Centre: Introduced soussus: (over/under). Added to the balance combination. Balance de cote to the right, then to the left, then step right into 3rd (crossed left foot over right) in releve (on the balls of the feet), then spring to plie to repeat.
